The Manchester Arena is probably one of the more intimate venues that the Stones played on this tour, and it was one of their best performances that I have seen them do throughout the years.
The opening chord of 'Street Fighting Man' reverberated throughout the arena causing the audience to erupt into a volcanic mass of cheering as well as the obligatory yet well-deserved standing ovation. As it rang out, Keith Richards walked onto the stage brightly lit with the powerful spotlights.
After he'd finished going through some of the more clich rock'n'roll guitar-hero poses, the rest of the band (Ronnie Woods, Charlie Watts) joined him on stage. Finally Mick Jagger came onto the stage strutting his stuff in only the way Mick can. If you imagine watching your dad dance at a party after having a few too many to drink, then you will have some idea of how Mick moves.
The instantly recognisable guitar intro to 'Start Me Up' was then bellowing out over the sound system, with Keith just playing his guitar in his usual laid back way.
You name it, they played it - 'Paint It Black', 'Tumbling Dice', 'Jumping Jack Flash' and 'Honky Tonk Woman' accompanied with a raunchy dance routine. Their setlist has not altered much for the last 20 years or so, but that shows how impressive these hits are in the first place.
Time just flew by whilst watching these rock legends strut their stuff. They had some nice touches to their stage show like a runway from the main stage to the smaller stage in the middle of the arena, which gave everyone a good chance of getting a good view of the band at some point through the night.
There were reports of people buying tickets for 300 pounds, so the question is would it be worth paying that much? Without a doubt, yes!!!!
