Dubliners Humanzi have a lot to say about the state of this crazy world we live in, choosing to use their voice to show disgust and despair for the pointless wars and commercialism plaguing the planet. They do this whilst playing some great rock and roll, and also tackle subjects closer to home, like the single Diet Pills And Magazines, from the debut album Tremors (the title track being about sleep paralysis).
Now from the size of the crowd it is easy to quickly assume that people are here to see a Hollywood movie star, and not an accomplished life long music fan whos finally getting to let off steam with some good old rock and roll. Notorious for not sticking to the rules and defying convention, Juliette struts onto the stage to start an energetic performance that people have come to expect from her and The Licks.
Dressed in a similar feathered headband to the one in the video for new single Hot Kiss, she writhes and jumps all over the stage. A couple of kids in copy-cat feathered attire can be seen bobbing about in the crowd. The Licks can move too, especially when the leading lady is dancing nearby. A few slower tunes give the lass a break, but the sweat is on for the majority of the set. Juliette has that sort of persona where you have to watch her, and the crowd are transfixed.
The more she plays the rock and roll queen the more they want. Now again that could be the actress qualification shining through, but I believe she is genuinely talented as a musical performer, as long as she does what she wants and has the help of a talented bunch of musicians.
