Simple Plan

Last time we caught Simple Plan they were just a support act for Bowling For Soup, now a few years later they have returned to do their own headlining show. The fact that they decided to play on Valentines day would surely have some sort of detrimental effect on their ticket sales… Nothing against Simple Plan, but if my partner said ‘oh by the way for valentines day we are going to see Simple Plan- she would have been dumped straight away!’. Not only were Simple Plan up against that, they were also playing on the same night as one of England’s biggest groups- Oasis were in the city playing quite literally just down the road at Nottingham Ice Arena.

It was with some amazement that upon approaching Rock City, the billboards all had ‘sold out’ signs on the Simple Plan advertisements! Even the queue circled round the entire Rock City building.


The audience at this gig were mainly under 18- Simple Plan had decided to arrange it so that under18’s could attend- some bands will do anything to get a sell out!!

Despite the band having a young following, when it comes to playing live they deliver such a stunning show that no matter what age you are it is impossible not to like them.

Admittedly I only know Simple Plans popular tracks, yet whilst looking across the jam-packed venue- it was clear that the youngsters knew every single word to every song.


Frontman Pierre Bouvier bounced around the stage like a man possessed, belting out the vocals and jumping of the raised platforms, which had been erected so that they could do all of the classic rock cliché poses!

From the opening track ‘Shut Up’ to the dying notes of the final song ‘Perfect’- this show was action-packed, visually stimulating, and above all the music was superb!!

Simple Plan certainly deserve to be as popular as they currently are, in a live setting they work damned hard to provide their fans with an unforgettable show!
