He strolled onto the stage wearing spectacles and holding a bottle of red wine, which would be completely finished by the end of the night. The opening track was 'So Alive', which is taken from his album 'Rock n Roll' - most of the set consisted of tracks from that album. It sent a wave of energy through the audience, causing them to jump, bounce, cheer, shout. Ryan with his new hairstyle maintained the high energy pace by kicking straight in to '1974'.
Looking round the audience and it was easy to see how diverse his fans are. Ranging from young teenagers to old age pensioners, which goes to show that if you are a brilliant musician, people will like your music no matter what genre of music you play.
Ryan is definitely one of those rare breed of musicians who genuinely enjoys playing live, and thoroughly loves it. It was so obvious that he was there to enjoy himself and he didn't even care when he made the odd mistake, he just laughed and carried on.
The downside to this show was the fact that Mr Adams decided to leave 'New York, New York', and his version of 'Wonderwall' out, despite constant heckles from the audience for him to play these. Not many artistes would have the balls to miss out their crowd favourite songs.
Ryan Adams is one of those artistes that you must go and see, he is very entertaining witty and best of all he plays great music. There are few that can put on a show for over two hours and still leave you wanting more.
