As soon as InMe arrived on stage they were greeted with a volcanic roar of approval from the crowd. Before they played a single note, the entire audience had their hands in the air in anticipation for the opening track. As soon as the intro started the audience went wild with excitement, jumping up and down on each other's toes.
Their opening track 'Gelosea' was greeted with a fantastic response, the sound engineer had managed to do a mind-blowing job of making them sound great, but at the same time extremely loud without sacrificing the quality. My ears were ringing for hours after the show.
You have to feel sorry for InMe as they are not even 21 yet, and therefore are categorised as another teen band, which tragically is the same category that Gareth Gates and all the other talentless boybands seem to be under. However InMe are gifted, and have an ability way beyond their youthful age.
Dave McPherson is one of those rare breed that sing with absolute passion and emotion - from the moment he opened his mouth, I became entranced. Dave's falsetto vocals are entwined with angst-ridden shouts.
These young lads have such a diverse range of songs that they catered for every one. They played their radio friendly hit 'Crushed Like Fruit' as well as creating a violent riot in the mosh pit whilst playing 'Underdose' during the encore. Even their slow-burning song with mellow guitar hooks and a magnificent chorus entitled 'Ice Warm' was included in their set.
My personal highlight of the show was their performance of their latest single 'Neptune', I challenge you to find a song with a better guitar intro than this.
InMe are awesome live, there was no false pretence or over inflated egos with these guys, just pure talent and cracking tunes. For those of you that didn't attend this show, you might just have missed your chance to see the emergence of a very spectacular group.
Judging by their performance, their set at the Download Festival is going to be extremely impressive. This will probably be the last opportunity you will have to catch them playing at a festival as a non-headliner. They have everything going for them: mind blowing well crafted songs, the right attitude (not egotistical), and at such a young age they have plenty of time to develop. I can genuinely say that very few bands impress me this much. InMe have definitely made it to my top live bands list. I will be first in line to catch them at Download. Someday all bands will be this good!
