Jess Glynne has risen to prominence with various collaborations with such artists as Clean Bandit on their single 'Rather Be' and Route 94's 'My Love', both of which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2014. Her debut solo single, 'Right Here', hit the top ten in 2014 too.
2015 has been Jess's year, she has become the second British female solo artist, after Cheryl to have five number-one singles in the UK, following her single releases 'Hold My Hand' and 'Don't Be So Hard on Yourself' and her feature on Tinie Tempah's 'Not Letting Go'. Debut album, 'I Cry When I Laugh', was released in 2015 and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.
Tonight was the second date of an 8 date UK tour for Ms Glynne, the room was already packed to overflowing when we got there, all hot and sweaty, I was surprised how many kids were there!!
Ten minutes late on stage, she was due on at 9.30 but graced us with her surreal presence at 9.40, it was pumpkin time for me, I was ready for bed and it was as school night.
Dressed all in black with her lush Ginger hair swept back and braided, she was ready for action, showcasing hits from debut album 'I Cry When I laugh' was what tonight was all about.
I've been excited for this gig for a while and tonight she didn't disappoint, kicking the set off with 'Ain't Got Far To Go', all the camera phones were out on the front row, just made me laugh.
The audience was a right mixed bag, but I guess Ms Glynne does appeal to everyone. Merchandise was reasonable at £20 for a tshirt, which is the norm.
The next few songs were like a hitfest: 'Right Here' and 'Rather Be', were definite crowd pleasers, I could feel my booty shaking and my foot tapping too. 'Not Letting Go', Tinie Tempah's release which she features on was up next, after that you realise how much success Glynne has had.
Route 94's 'My Love', was stripped back to the bare essentials and was one of my songs of the night.
A cover of Amy Winehouse's 'Tears Dry On Their Own' was totally impeccable, and Glynne showed her vocal prowess and why she is so popular amongst the masses. This song was well worth the ticket price alone.
Another two stonkers for the encore 'Right Here' and 'Hold My Hand' , the audience were left wanting more and so was I., the night was over too quick for me, Glynne had come and gone in a flash.
More dates have been announced for early 2016 in the UK, Europe and US, so I guess I need to sort tickets out for one of the UK dates too, especially as tonight was so good.
