Jamie T / Slaves / Hollie Cook

Alexandra Palace, London on Fri 14th Nov 2014

The Alexandra Palace certainly lives up to its regal promise. A stunning building, originally opened in 1873 to celebrate Queen Victorias 54th birthday it makes its presence felt in North London. However, the crowd is not here to admire the buildings vast architecture, they are here to see the mighty Jamie T.

Slaves

The support act is the amazing Slaves. This Tunbridge Wells based duo have been causing ripples in the music world since being debuted by BBC introducing in Kent back in 2012. Since then they have done Leed and Reading festival, been backed by Radio one and featured on Jools Holland. Not bad for a band that only signed their first major record deal back in March 2014 and havent even released their album yet.

When they take to the stage they are met with massive cheers. Isaac took a moment to compose himself and then took to his drums like a man possessed. The band were clearly having the time of their life and enjoying every minute with the crowd fully behind them. They launched into an array of tracks including: 'Debbie Where's Your Car' and 'Hey'. They received an amazing reception and we can clearly expect great things from them in the future.

Jamie T

When Jamie T hit the stage it was like he had never been away despite his 5 year hiatus. The minute he stood in front of the mike stand the crowd were eating out of the palm of his hand. This is considered the biggest headlining gigs of his career with the gigs sold out every night and tickets attracting a premium on the secondary market. As soon as the crowd heard the first cord of his classic tracks, Ally Pally erupted into a frenzy of fans.

Jamie was later joined on stage by Hollie Cook who was one of the earlier support acts to sing 'Sticks and Stones'. Drawing material from his previous three studio albums, the crowd spent most of the night singing along, hanging on his every word. Clearly they have missed his presence in the music industry and welcome him back with open arms with lighters aloft. In the mediocre pop world, its great to have someone with his edginess back.
