This hair metal band from the sunset strip strolled onto the stage in their usual spandex attire and denim jackets. Despite their 80's hair band image Steel Panther are exceptional gifted musicians.
The fact that their unique talent is sometimes outshone by their stereotypical 80's rock band antics on stage and the endless sexual innuendos is always going to be a double edged sword for Steel Panther.
There is no denying that they have brought an element of fun back to rock music with tracks such as 'Supersonic Sex Machine', 'Eatin' Ain't Cheating', 'Just Like Tiger Woods' and album titles such as their latest album 'Balls Out' could quite easily give you the false impression that this is one of those bands that are a joke. However this could not be further from the truth.
Band members Michael Starr (vocals), Satchel (lead guitar), Lexxi Foxxx (Bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums) possess talent of the highest calibre on each of their chosen instruments.
Steel Panther stopped playing after the second song and started to interact with the crowd by telling the crowd tongue-in-cheek jokes ranging from underage sex to drugs. To the uninitiated Steel Panther fan this may come across as shocking, but judging by the audience reaction this repertoire is something that fans expect to see every time they play.
All of the stereotypical eighties glam rock clichés are included in Steel Panthers music, ranging from the over inflated rock star egos to the screeching guitar solos, sweeping drum rolls and falsetto vocals.
If any one had any doubt about their musicianship, then Satchels guitar solo covering classic tracks from legendary bands such as Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden easily silenced any critics in the audience.
The glam rockers saved 'Party All Day' and 'Community Property' for the encore, which had the audience joining in for an intimate sing-a-long.
Currently on the live scene there is no other group that can deliver an evening of great humour, great entertainment and high calibre rock music like Steel Panther can.
