Mencap's Little Noise Sessions line-up announced

The line-up for Mencap's Little Noise Sessions held at a new home - St.John-at-Hackney from Tuesday 22nd until Sunday ­27th November 2009 has been announced.

Host and curator, Jo Whiley, announced the line-up which includes headliners Elbow, Example, Marina & The Diamonds, Goldfrapp and Sinead O'Connor.

Also set to perform are Ed Sheeran, Maverick Sabre, Fenech Soler, King Creosote, Icona Pop, Spark, Alpines, and Birdy, with a raft of performers and special guests still to be announced.

Now in their 6th year, Mencap's Little Noise Sessions take world-class bands out of their comfort zone to present a rawer, purer sound meaning the crowd get to witness something very special each night.

Jo Whiley said, "Mencap's Little Noise Sessions are back for the 6th successful year and we're excited to be moving to St John-at Hackney - a venue that in its 700 year history has never played host to a music gig like this! Each year we aim to surprise and inspire the audience, with a week of unbelievable shows coupled with a simply stunning backdrop. See you there."

Elbow front-man Guy Garvey added, "We are dead proud to be added to the list of amazing bands that have done the Little Noise Sessions for Jo Whiley and Mencap. In fact we have organised a warm up tour of Europe before the show to make sure we are in tip top condition when we play!"

There are 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK, who are among the most excluded and disadvantaged people in our society. Money raised at Mencap's Little Noise Sessions will go to Mencap arts awards projects to help people with a learning disability. Mencap directly supports people with a learning disability to live their lives as they choose and challenge prejudice.
