news: Tuesday 22nd March 2011

A Japan Disaster Benefit night in aid of the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal has been announced for the O2 Brixton Academy on Sunday 3rd April.

The special one off musical event in aid of Japan Earthquake victims will feature Richard Ashcroft, Beady Eye, The Coral, Graham Coxon, Primal Scream and Paul Weller, and has been hastily arranged to help benefit those who have been affected by the recent earthquakes and subsequent tsunami in Japan.

Almost 8,500 people have died in the disaster with thousands injured and with nearly 13,000 people still missing the need for an immediate response is immense. The Japanese Red Cross has been working on the ground since the disaster struck, mobilizing 85 teams – made up of 700 doctors, nurses and support staff who have provided first aid and healthcare and assistance in assessing the damage and the needs of the communities affected.

Tickets will go on sale on this Friday 25th March at 9am, limited to a maximum of 4 per applicant, and eGigs will have links to buy them then.
