Foo Fighters to headline this year's Big Gig

plus Cee Lo Green, and Band of Horses for Wembley Arena

news: Monday 17th January 2011

Foo Fighters (featuring NME Godlike Genius Award winner Dave Grohl) have been confirmed as the headliners this year's Big Gig.

The Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig, takes place on Friday 25th February at Wembley Arena, London two days after the Shockwaves NME Awards which are held at Brixton Academy.

Also joining Foo Fighters on the bill are two more American acts Cee Lo Green, and Band of Horses.

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters said, "I don't think I'm godlike or a genius. It's flattering. It's a nice thing to be acknowledged for doing something you love to do... In truth I don't consider it a body of work because I don't consider it work."

Tickets for the Big Gig will be available from 9am tomorrow, exclusively from www.nme.com/tickets before remaining tickets going on general sale at 9am on Friday 21st January when eGigs will have links to buy them. Tickets are priced at £40 (plus booking fee), which includes a free copy of a 100-page special NME Dave Grohl magazine worth £4.99.

Meanwhile the Shockwaves NME Awards Shows 2011 are poised to take over London nightlife throughout February. A raft of headline acts including Mystery Jets, Noah and the Whale, Edwyn Collins, White Lies, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Frank Turner, Warpaint, Caribou, Carl Barat, and more will take over London venues to celebrate this year's Awards.

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 themselves will take place at the O2 Academy Brixton on Wednesday February 23rd - gathering the best new bands, returning icons and the most influential legends to celebrate the most credible music awards in the world. Dave Grohl will be picking up his NME Godlike Genius Award and playing live with Foo Fighters at the event.
