news: Monday 12th April 2010

Supergrass are to split after 17 years following a three farewell summer shows.

The band who have had 15 years together have a string of hits including 'Alright', 'Moving', 'Pumping on Your Stereo', and 'Richard III' - said they were heading their separate ways due to "musical differences".

They released a statement saying, "Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years - we still love each other but, cliche notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on and of course we all wish each other well in the future."

Supergrass will round off their career with three farewell shows in June, starting at Glasgow Barrowlands on June 8, then Manchester's Academy on the 9th, and the Brixton Academy in London on Thursday 10th.

The band drew early acclaim with debut single 'Caught By The Fuzz' in 1994 and went on to reach No 2 in the singles chart twice.

They recorded six albums but had to regroup in 2007 when bass player Mick Quinn suffered spinal injuries during a fall which led to Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey playing live as the Diamond Hoo Ha Men.

Although starting life as a trio, the line-up went on to include Coombes's brothers, Rob and Charly.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 16th April. To buy tickets click here.
