12x12 will pay tribute to the vinyl format indelibly pressed into the groove of clubland, the twelve inch single. 12x12 brings 12 heavyweight producers together with 12 seminal London club anthems. Three decades of club classics, represented by the acts that created them.
The confirmed line-up includes Robert Owens, Guy Called Gerald, Shades Of Rhythm, Zinc & Dynamite MC, X-Press 2, Peter Hook, Roni Size, Jazzie B, Arthur Baker, Shy FX and Stamina MC, Martyn Ware and MJ Cole. All playing for 12 minutes each and celebrating those 12 inches that changed modern music culture forever, tracks including 'Voodoo Ray', 'Blue Monday' and 'Back 2 Life'.
All proceeds from the 12x12 event will go to War Child, and will make a life-changing difference to their work protecting children from the brutal effects of war and its consequences, currently working in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq and Uganda.
War Child Music Director Ben Knowles said, "We are delighted that Red Bull Music Academy have chosen War Child to benefit from this amazing evening, with 12 of the most iconic names who have shaped music today. They are legends who have influenced the lives of young people in clubs everywhere for decades, and now they will have a real impact on children in the world's war zones today. It's going to be an historic night."
The night is part of a Red Bull Music Academy music marathon which has brought unique events to London landmarks such as The Roundhouse, ICA, Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall.
