Let me get this established because I made a mistake regarding stages in a previous interview, you guys are playing the BBC Introducing stage this year?
Kinch: Yeah, that's the one.
Is this the first time youve played a major festival?
Rich (bass): Well yeah, more or less, a big one like Leeds, definitely.
Is it an overwhelming thing?
All laugh
Rich: Yeah, for sure. It's extremely exciting; one of those things where I dont think it's fully sunk in.
And how did you get this opportunity?
Rich (who became a kind of unofficial spokesperson): It was a competition at the cockpit, Futuresound, where thirty bands are nominated; I think it was three gigs, ten bands each. We were one of the lucky ones!
Something you're looking forward to, then?
Rich: Oh yeah, massively.
Being your first major festival do you think you've already got a fairly large group of fans who will come down on the day?
Rich: To get to this point youd have to I guess but were looking at it more of an opportunity to play to a wider audience. Were always looking to branch out.
So have you been doing the Myspace demos thing or have you had a record deal at any point?
Rich: We had one, just one or two tracks for a small London label. We've just been in to the studio to do a few tracks.
So here's hoping you get something out of this festival then.
Rich: Yeah, absolutely.
And how about influences and sound, how would you describe yourselves?
Pete (drums): We're fans of The Kooks.
Rich: Indie, you know.
Ah right, doing the whole indie thing. Well thanks for talking to us!
