Hot Chip, Bluetones, Dodgy perform hidden shows for Crisis

tickets on sale now for London homeless charity gigs

news: Wednesday 18th March 2009

Hot Chip, Bluetones, and Dodgy have joined forces in support of the homeless charity Crisis.

The bands are the first confirmed acts to perform nine hidden shows across London in May and June. Hot Chip will kick off proceedings on Tuesday 5th May.

The series will also see Dodgy, and Bluetones performing on the same bill somewhere secret on Sunday 17th May.

Other acts confirmed include Bombay Bicycle Club, The Cuban Brothers, The Bays, and The Pipettes, with more artists to be confirmed at a later date.

The 'hidden' theme will mean that the venues will be disclosed on the day of the gig, via text message and chief fund raiser Andy Page explained on 6 Music why, "The purpose really is to help us promote the issues of those that are the hidden homeless in London, not those that you see on the street, but the thousands of people who actually move from day to day or live on friends floors, those that you don't see. Some of them will actually be curating those evenings themselves and bringing other bands along with them."

Al Doyle from Hot Chip, said, "Whether they would like to admit it or not, most people have an image in their head of a 'homeless person', the old-fashioned and unhelpful figure of the down-and-out, who in fact is entirely unrepresentative of the majority of homeless people in the UK. These are the hidden homeless, who for a variety of often very complex reasons have no regular accommodation. We hope our gig for Crisis will raise awareness of their plight and are very happy to help the cause."

All proceeds will go towards Crisis. Tickets have just gone on sale priced at £25. To buy tickets, click here.
