first since 2000, tickets on sale today

news: Wednesday 25th February 2009

Radio Gnome is back on air! Old school psychedelic act Gong are to tour for the first time since the start of the millennium with original members Daevid Allen, with Steve Hillage, Gilli Smyth, Miquette Giraudy, Chris Taylor, Theo Travis, John McKenzie, and Mike Howlett.

The progressive/psychedelic rock band were formed by Australian musician Daevid Allen in 1967. Their music has also been described as space rock. The classic Gong line-up retired from regular touring in 2001, and there have been one-off reunions since, most recently in June 2008, Gong played two concerts in London: Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank (opening Massive Attack's Meltdown festival) and the Forum.

Gong are currently working on a brand new forward-looking album called '2032', the same year that the Planet Gong makes full contact with the Planet Earth - and a major new chapter in the continually evolving Gong mythology. The album will be released September 2009.

The band's tour dates are as follows:
Thu 19 November O2 Academy, Bristol
Fri 20 November Lemon Grove, Exeter
Sat 21 November Manchester University (Academy), Manchester
Sun 22 November HMV Picture House, Edinburgh
Mon 23 November The Leadmill, Sheffield
Wed 25 November Assembly, Leamington Spa
Thu 26 November Corn Exchange, Cambridge
Fri 27 November HMV Forum, London
Sat 28 November The Regal, Oxford
Sun 29 November Brighton Dome, Brighton

Tickets are priced at £18.50, (London £20), and are available now, except Exeter date. To buy tickets, click here.
