The Highrise Campaign, is an anti-knife and gun album, featuring versions of Pama International's anti-knife/gun anthem 'Highrise' by artists including Dennis Alcapone, Billy Bragg, Michie One, Wrongtom, G.Corp, Mungos Hi Fi, Lynval Golding, and Jimmy Screech. The album is released on Monday 2nd February 2009 on Pama International's own Rockers Revolt label, with proceeds going to a number of UK children's charities including; Kids Company, London, Southmede Centre, Bristol and Basement Studios, Bristol.
The night will feature live music from Pama International, Dennis Alcapone,Jimmy Screech, Dreadzone Sound System, Wrongtom, Ed Rome, The Steady Boys, Jim Cox Reggae Train, and Funkdub DJs.
Everyone involved with the making of Highrise, is truly passionate about spreading a positive message, as well as providing funding, mentoring and opportunities to the younger generations. Members have been directly affected by knife and gun crime; Dennis Alcapone's stepson was shot dead in Limehouse, London this summer and Lynval Golding (The Specials/Pama Intl) almost lost his life in a very well documented knife attack.
The campaign's aims are simple - to make our streets safer, better places through rebuilding a sense of community for everyone. All the charity's chosen by Pama International in this campaign do amazing work, actively give youths opportunities, support and guidance on a daily basis. In addition to to the album's release, Pama Intl will be taking this vital message on the road, performing a series of club shows, as well as matinee performances and workshops for under 18s throughout 2009.
