The Cure revealed as headliners for next year's Big Gig

godlike geniuses to top the bill at O2 Arena show

Robert Smith's gloomy gothic rockers The Cure who were named by NME as this year's 'Godlike Geniuses' have been confirmed as the headliners for next year's Big Gig.

The Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig, takes place on Thursday 26th February at O2 Arena, London the day after the Shockwaves NME Awards which are held at Brixton Academy.

Robert Smith of The Cure said, "When The Cure play now we often play up to three hours and we play pretty much everything. We'll do the same kind of thing, we'll reflect what we've done over the years."

Rob Hallet President of AEG Live said, "We are extremely proud to be involved with the Big Gig for the second year and welcome the Cure's much deserved induction to the God Like Genius status."

Tickets for the Big Gig will be available from 9am tomorrow, Wednesday 5th November exclusively from www.nme.com/biggig until Monday 10th November.
