Now in its 8th year, the The Teenage Cancer Trust Gigs begin with a night of comedy on Wednesday, hosted by TCT regular Noel Fielding who will be joined by special comedy guests. Thursday night sees the return of the 'Mod-Father' Paul Weller, joined by Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock and current chart topper and soul singer, Duffy. Friday sees Glasgow rockers The Fratellis with indie rockers Figure 5, and Sunday Muse headline the finale of the concerts in their only UK indoor date this summer. More acts will be announced shortly.
The TCT gigs were the brainchild of The Who's Roger Daltrey CBE, patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, who has once again persuaded the best of British talent available across rock, pop and comedy to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity.
Announcing this year's line-up, The Who's Roger Daltrey, patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, who works tirelessly to persuade music's finest acts to perform each year, said, "These shows, now in their eighth year, continue to help Teenage Cancer Trust raise essential funds to build specialist teenage cancer units within the NHS. The UK is a world leader in providing this support for teenagers with cancer and in 2008, the charity will open five new units and will start building work on a further two. This means that many more teenagers with cancer will have access to one of our units and will get the support they need to fight this disease."

Each day in the UK, 6 teenagers will be diagnosed with cancer - that is over 2,000 diagnoses per year. TCT funds specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals, providing an environment where teenagers can get on with being teenagers, a positive environment expected to improve survival rates and ensure a better future for patients and their families.
In 2008, the charity will open 5 new units (in Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow and Southampton) and will start building work on a further 2 (in Birmingham and Cambridge). More units are needed to ensure every single young person with cancer has access to one. Over the past seven years these shows have directly led to the development of three major Teenage Cancer Trust units and related services around the country, as well as much awareness for this neglected group of young people.
David Elliott, Chief Executive of the Royal Albert Hall commented, "The Royal Albert Hall is delighted to once again host the Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts. This week is one of the highlights of our programme each year and we are thrilled to see such a fantastic line-up of artists in support of such a worthwhile cause."
Tickets are available from 10 am on Friday 22nd February. Check back with eGigs on Friday morning to get tickets.
