It's not 'Viva Forever'. Having got what they want, what they really really want - and spiced up their bank accounts - it's time to 'Stop' and say 'Goodbye' (again)!
Claiming it's "due to family and personal commitments", the Spice Girls have now said they will end their reunion tour in Toronto on 26th February, with planned shows in Beijing, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires being cancelled. These shows had been originally scheduled for January but were postponed after the £75-a-ticket London leg of the tour was extended, and will not now be rescheduled. It looks as though it doesn't much matter if you 'Say You'll Be There', it's also got to pay well.
While they cite those "family and personal commitments" as the reason for why the tour is being cut short, there's been a reported lack of interest in some of the cities which would have seen a reduction in their hard-earnt (haha;) money from the tour to play money-losing shows. With Ginger Spice recently having laughingly claimed they would be lucky to break even from their tour, it seems that an apparent desire to hold on to the money they claim they won't have earned might be what has brought the tour to this premature end.
Perhaps the only girl power they believe in is their own earning power, while shafting the fans they claimed they were reforming to please if there weren't enough of them to make the girls' have fat pockets. Are those fans now thinking 'Who Do You Think You Are'?
So it'll soon be over, but perhaps only until funds start to run low again (stop groaning at the back). Thank god. Can we get back to in-tune and decent live music now? Please?
