Yet at the same time Geri is being reported as saying they will be lucky if they break even because of the costs of putting on the shows, "The truth of the matter is, to put on this tour has cost $37 million (£18.6 million). We have done this purely to celebrate our fans, the music and ourselves."
So despite recent TV coverage and media-blitz of the girls' tour, we're supposed to believe it's all about the music, yeah right! Ginger then goes on to lament, "This is not a money-making expedition. It really isn't. Hopefully we will break even but it's never been about that. If we take home a pay cheque that's fantastic, but this is about party and celebration."
Not a money making expedition? Yes it is! £2 million each just for playing Australia is a fairly big pay cheque for singing some worn out tunes! It's a little hard to believe that the five of them are actually on this tour for a party and a celebration. This tour is surely actually about trying to make as much money as possible out of their fans, who have been sold this tour by all the TV coverage. No doubt Australians can now look forward to the five of them splashed all over the media to generate sales.
Ticket prices for this 'reunion' tour are hugely inflated at around twice the cost of tickets for your usual mega-popular act, it's nearly as greedy as Madonna. Surely if it was about the fans, why is show after show in London or Manchester? A tour of the country in many more venues and lower ticket prices would actually have shown us they wanted to celebrate their fans, not make as much money as possible out them.
The quintet's last single for Children In Need bombed providing the charity event with little revenue to show for it. It seems the girls are moaning about their own income. Is anyone else wishing they had listened to their fans? None of which were calling for a reunion and not bothered. We all know they have no credibility at all but Geri has just proved it.
