Stereophonics cancel XFM gig

news: Wednesday 3rd October 2007

Stereophonics @ T in the Park 2001 Stereophonics will no longer be able to play their scheduled XFM show this coming Saturday (October 6th).

The band were forced to pull the plug on the gig, which was set to take place at the ULU, after front man Kelly Jones received an injury that doctors said could have resulted in him never being able to play the guitar again.

Jones was injured in a brawl in a West End nightclub, and received a nasty gash to his arm. Doctors have told him to rest for three weeks before he plays again. This will not affect the band's performance on Ian Camfield's drivetime on Friday, coming live from Leicester Square. Although it is unlikely that Jones will be playing guitar at the gig.

Jones commented "Due to troubles in a dark seedy club and being thrown onto the street resulting in surgery and pampering by lovely nurses I am afraid to report I cannot play Saturday's show and for that I am gutted.

“My arm will return to full cannon force shortly and I will be back stronger than a bulldog trying to snap his chain. May your house be free from tigers. Bless you all.
"

It's not the first time that the band have been forced to cancel an XFM show, as they were due to play at a show celebrating the launch of XFM Scotland last year but were forced to pull out.
