Tori is one of those artistes that attempts to give the impression of not wanting all of the attention and limelight that being famous brings, for example being photographed seems to be a big problem for her, hence the low lighting and not looking at the audience whilst the photographer was trying to do his job, as well as hardly doing interviews. The simple truth is if she doesnt like it, then stop releasing records.
Despite the fact that I hate everything that I know about her off stage, when she performs live, she does it faultlessly and for the two hours that shes on stage, her music is vibrant, mesmerising, kooky, weird, and atmospheric.
This tour entitled The American Doll Posse tour once again incorporated a new look for Tori, although she changes her image for every tour, so no surprises there then.
During the first half of the show, The American songstress belted out tracks such as Bouncing Off Clouds and Little Earthquakes. It is always a pleasure being in a Tori show as you are guaranteed to hear the audience singing every single word to every song, which gives an intimate feel to her shows.
Halfway through and a recording of Professional Widow along with all the dazzling disco lights brightened up the Apollo whilst she strolled off stage to change into another costume.
The second half ran smoothly and the crowd favourites like Crucify and Cornflake Girl received a volcanic applause as the audience joined in with the lyrics.
The quirky shy pianist even took time to speak to the audience...
When I was first here, many years ago, I was petrified, she confessed.
It was the biggest place Id ever played. I almost wet my pants. But now... it feels like home.
She even made the effort to try and listen to someone in the audience asking for her to play Merman, which was one request she was happy to oblige with. During this the person who requested it started to shout I Love You Tori, which made her smile in the process.
After two hours of superb vocals and incredible piano melodies, Tori waved goodbye and strolled off into the night.
